Hiking - Walking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy and chilly Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3.50 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Monday 22nd April - walk **** – Around Felixstowe including a picnic
on the beach – cloudy and chilly.
As I woke fairly early this morning and despite only being around 3 degrees
it was clear so I decided to head down to Felixstowe seafront to catch the
sunrise. I could not drive anywhere as the clutch on our old but much loved
VW campervan went on Saturday and we had to get the breakdown truck out, at
least it gave us the opportunity to clean it on Sunday and its looks great,
we were lucky to get a spot in the garage on Tuesday to be repaired! So I
was on the prom at 5.30 and it was very quiet with hardly anyone about with
a clear sky for the most part with a bank of high cloud on the horizon
making it look like a mountain range and the sea was flat calm and with the
sun starting to come I was treated to a lovely sunrise, well worth the two
wet feet I got! I took some pics of the bluebells in the seafront car park
before heading home to send some pics to the TV weather but I am not
holding my breath as its virtually impossible to get on the BBC these days!
Sadly it clouded over so exercises indoors today, poor old Mag has a
problem with a muscile in her hip but once she struggled out of bed she
managed to enjoy her time I nthe garden. Then I packed a picnic and we set
off for our daily walk, we bumped into a neighbour on the way to the
seafront and had a nice chat at we walked towards The Fludyers, the wind
had come round onshore from the NE and it was a tad on the chilly side! We
reached the end of the prom and continued along the beach finding a nice
sheltered behind a wooden groyne enjoying the peace and quiet on what is
World Earth Day! We even had a kestrel hover above before carrying o the
the next section of the prom and up the steep steps to the beach huts on
the clifftop at Brackenbury. It was then back looking at some lovely
houses before reaching the cliiftop view at the end of our road and home
for a hot water bottle and a cuppa:)
